Achieving the Perfect 'Pinterest' Suite Shot with 'The Mrs Box'!

THE 'PINTEREST' SUITE SHOT

DON'T KID YOURSELF.. WE'VE ALL GOT 'THAT' PIN BOARD..

You know the one I'm talking about.. the gorgeous shiny engagement ring sitting in this beautiful little velvet box with the initials anagrammed on the lid? The photo's that plague a brides Pinterest - along with the gorgeous table settings and unbelievable invitations.. Shots like the ones featured here..

I MEAN,
SERIOUSLY,
HOW GORGE ARE THEY!?

I remember when I first started shooting weddings and I'd arrive at bridal prep to have to search the apartment to find the brides things! An engagement ring shot there, her shoes here and if I was lucky (extremely lucky) she may have even had a leftover invitation lying around.. *YASSS!* I couldn't figure it out.. how did all these other Pinterest brides know where to find these gorgeous velvet lines boxes, dyed silk ribbon and full invitation suites?..

When surfing the Pinterest waves - getting lost among the endless tulle and seemingly perfect weddings - I couldn't help but notice, they all seemed to be located everywhere but in Australia! Most of the weddings were in fact in the USA and so were those darn boxes!! No more I say, it's time for some good (awesome) old (young) Aussie brides to get in on these bad boys!!

SO what makes these boxes so dreamy/awesome?

Have you ever noticed that almost every wedding blog you see featured begins with wedding prep?

The location of where the bride is getting married and how the colours and theme of that space reflect the entire wedding and general tone for the day. THIS is why wedding prep photos are so beloved by photographers - it is the beginning of your story, it sets the scene! And why it's so important to actually take some time into getting your prep area organised! One of the token shots is the ring shot for sure, plus, being able to design your own antique-ish ring box ain't such a terrible thing, is it? So let's get down to business! Where do you get them!? Let me introduce.. *drumroll!*

The Mrs Box!

So my good brides of Australia, I give you the mystery supplier of these beautiful little ring boxes!...

This is something I can't wait to share around to my future brides, just incase they ever feel the need to make their ring's home just that little bit extra fancy.. Something else as well.. people, send an invite to your photographer! Why? Because..

  1. We love to be involved and again it gives us an insight of what to expect for your big day!
  2. I don't know about other togs but I am a stationary FREAK and will happily look over invitation suites.. GIVE ME ALL THE VELLUM!
  3. If you pop one in the mail and your photographer is awesome enough they might just be able to bring it on the day or photograph it before/after your wedding!! (I love to do this! So LOBRIDE'S I hope you hear me when I say POST ME YOUR INVITES!!)

NOW, one last thing, just because I'm posting about these does not mean they are a necessity.. I just know that it's something I always see brides post or pin and figured I could help unmask where they're from! At the end of the day, this is but a small detail in the grand scheme of things and it is entirely dependant on what you want for your wedding day - 'JUST DO YOU!'.

Happy Thursday everyone!

Love,

Lauren
